SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket set to launch from SoCal coast

If you look up to the skies Thursday night and see some strange lights streaking across the Southern California sky, rest assured that it’s not a UFO.

VANDENBERG SPACE FORCE BASE, Calif. (KABC) — SpaceX’s launch of its Falcon 9 rocket has been pushed back.

The launch from Vandenberg Space Force Base was set for Thursday evening, but liftoff is now scheduled for no earlier than 7:30 p.m. Friday, according to the Hawthorne-based company.

The mission will send 22 Starlink internet satellites to low-Earth orbit. The launch will be the 30th Falcon 9 flight so far this year.

After the satellites are deployed, the booster will land on the “Of Course I Still Love You” droneship in the Pacific Ocean.

It was just last week that a similar Falcon 9 launch left a long, trailing plume across the Southern California sky.
